To all the mommies out there, Start Putting Yourself First.
Here’s why: You know the saying “when life gets busy”?.... Well, life doesn’t just “get busy” for a mom, it is ALWAYS busy. Our everyday reality can often feel like an endless marathon, and as mothers we have a tendency to put ourselves on the back burner. You might do this consciously or subconsciously, and you might think it’s selfless to take care of everyone's wants and needs before your own. But let me tell you that this is the worst thing you can do for yourself and your family.
As we navigate the whirlwind of morning routines, meal prep, bath time, bedtime, dishwashing, laundry, and the never-ending to-do list, the strain can and will build up if you neglect your own well being. However, if on the other hand you do something for yourself amongst all the *beautiful* chaos whether it’s going for a run, catching up with a friend or getting a manicure, that small act will fuel you to take on whatever responsibilities await you at home with your children.
As mothers we represent the largest cup in our families; in fact we are the pitchers, and with that comes immense responsibility which, in my opinion, we should feel empowered to uphold. An empty pitcher has no ability to pour into other cups and therefore, we must make an active effort in prioritizing ourselves and our needs so that our pitcher is full and capable of pouring all day long into our family’s cups over and over again. If you can’t get out and do something for yourself, head over to my recipes and make yourself one of my healthy and nutritious snacks or meals that will boost your mood and help maintain the energy you need throughout your day. Sometimes, that might be all it takes! Ultimately, we must prioritize taking care of ourselves in order to be our best selves for our children and partner. You got this Mama!
