Very Berry Oatmeal

This was my son's absolute favorite breakfast when he was 9 months old, and it's super hearty and nutritious! It's packed with superfood chia seeds, and the sweet and tangy taste of berries offers all the delicious flavor it needs. Our favorite is a combo of blueberries and blackberries, but you can really put any type of fruit in this recipe. This oatmeal stores well in an airtight glass container in the fridge for up to 4 days, and can be eaten warm or cold, both ways are delicious!

 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1.5 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • Handful of blueberries

Instructions:

  1. Fill your pot with water and turn the stove on to high heat
  2. Pour in the blueberries and cover the pot until the water boils, giving the blueberries a chance to soften and burst
  3. Once the water boils, uncover the pot and change to low heat
  4. Add in the rest of the ingredients and give it a good stir
  5. Cover the pot for 5-7 minutes while on simmer
  6. Remove from heat and eat as is or enjoy along side yogurt, chopped nuts, fruit and/or nut butter!

Notes:

  • The longer you keep the pot covered, the thicker the oatmeal will become
  • Feed this to your baby 6+ months
  • You can also add in blackberries and raspberries
