Immunity Boosting Applesauce

As soon as my son has a runny nose or I hear congestion in his body, this is what I run to make!! I have never believed the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” more than I do now as a mom. Apples are a powerhouse fruit for the human body. They are loaded with immunity boosting properties and are rich in antioxidants which serve our babies well when fed to them regularly. This recipe is also great for teething babies as it is super refreshing and cold on their teeth. Make this recipe for your baby and toddler starting at a young age so they’ll always love the taste and look forward to it!

Ingredients

  • 3-4 medium size apples (I like to use granny smith or honeycrisp)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1-2 tsp finely shaved/grated fresh ginger
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop your apples and place them in a pot
  2. Add your cup of water and then add in the rest of the ingredients
  3. Turn heat to high and wait for water to boil
  4. Once water boils, change heat to medium and steam for 10-15 minutes or until you can piece the fruit with a fork
  5. Drain most of the water from the pot leaving only a little behind and pour everything into a blender or food processor
  6. Blend all together until combined well
  7. Serve to your baby immediately or store in the fridge for a later time

Notes

  • Can store in the fridge for up to 5 days
  • Usually makes around 8-10 ounces of applesauce
