Caramel Apples

Caramel apples are a huge hit this time of year!! They are definitely a favorite fall treat so you have to try my healthier version with only a few simple nutritious ingredients. Guilt free without all the added sugar, make these on any day to curb a sweet craving or as a special dessert for a holiday meal. Pop this tray in the fridge and enjoy!!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • Date caramel (15 pitted and soaked dates, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/3 cup almond butter, 3 tbsp melted coconut oil, sprinkle of sea salt)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

 Instructions:

  1. Make your date caramel in a food processor
  2. Wash, dry and slice your apples into rounds
  3. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and arrange your apples. Make sure the apples don’t overlap on one another
  4. Coat each apple slice with 1 tbsp of date caramel and spread
  5. If you’re a chocolate lover, melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil
  6. Drizzle the chocolate on each apple slice
  7. Place the tray in the fridge to set and store in the freezer for up to 5 days

Notes:

  •  You can sprinkle with your favorite toppings like coconut shreds or chopped peanuts for an extra crunch
  • Don't let the apple slices overlap in the fridge or the bottom will turn soggy
